The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
Our military clinic remains open and we’re continuing to provide healthcare services. Scheduled appointments and procedures are proceeding as planned, and new appointments continue to be booked. About Us

The mission of Altus Air Force Base is “Forging Combat Mobility Forces…Deploying Airman Warriors”.

The 97th Medical Group supports the 97th Air Mobility Wing and 58 tenant units with the global reach mission by providing health care to enable training and deploying the Air Force’s C-17, KC-135, and KC-46 Pegasus aircrews and their families. The 97th MDG is staffed with 175 health care professionals, providing health services for more than 6,000 beneficiaries, 600 flight status patients, and 2,000 students. The 97th MDG is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Care and the American Dental Association.

The 97th Medical Support Squadron consists of six flights providing personnel and administration services including, resource management, TRICARE Operations and Patient Administration, medical readiness, information management, pharmacy, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, logistics and facility management.

The 97th MDOS provides comprehensive primary care and space-available subspecialty care to TRICARE-enrolled patients at the medical group. The squadron is comprised of seven flights: Primary Care, Mental Health, Aerospace and Operational Medicine, Aerospace and Operational Physiology, Public Health, Bioenvironmental and Dental. Available services include: allergy, immunization, family advocacy, mental health, substance abuse counseling, family medicine, pediatrics, optometry, and dental services for active duty personnel.

Families of active duty military are highly encouraged to enroll into TRICARE Prime and the TRICARE Dental Program to obtain their health care needs at the clinic and dental care from civilian dentists. All appointments for TRICARE Standard and TRICARE for Life patients will be based on Space Availability. We highly recommend patients who are not TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Plus familiarize themselves with their medical care benefits.
