Influenza Vaccine Update:

Flu season is upon us. We are concerned about your health and encourage everyone to get vaccinated annually against influenza.

It is critical that everyone who is able receives a flu vaccine. It’s essential that Active Duty Service Members, Active Duty Family Members and other beneficiaries are well-protected from influenza.

Please see the guidance below for getting the flu vaccine here at Altus AFB.

Active Duty Service Members (ADSMs)

Active Duty and Guard/Reserve members are required to get the flu vaccine.

Active duty members have the option of waiting until the MTF receives the flu vaccine or to obtain the flu vaccine off base at locations that accept TRICARE. If an ADSM chooses to receive the vaccine off base, please bring proof of vaccination to the Primary Care Clinic for it to be transcribed into their records.
  • The 97th Medical Group does not currently have the flu vaccine at the MTF for ADSMs. We will advertise across the marquee, social media, and the MTF webpage when we receive the vaccine.
  • ADSMs may obtain flu vaccines at local TRICARE pharmacies to include Walmart, Rexco Drug Store, Walgreens, Granite Drug Store, Mangum Drug Store, and the Jackson County Health Department.
    • Appointments are required at the Jackson County Health Department. To make an appointment, please contact them at (580) 482-7308. They offer appointments on a week by week basis from 0830-1530 Mon-Fri.
    • All other locations allow walk-ins. Please be considerate of hours of operation (lunch and closing times).
When you get a flu vaccine from anywhere besides Altus AFB, follow your Service policy guidance for recording the vaccine in your shot record. You will need the following information:
  • The date the vaccine was given
  • The vaccine name or code
  • Manufacturer
  • Lot number
