Referral Management Office
The Referral Management Office supports care navigation for all 97th Medical Group enrollees.
Referrals are requests for specialty services or procedures beyond the scope of the primary care manager.
What's the Referral Process for TRICARE Prime Enrollees at the 97th MDG?
Your provider has requested a referral or consultation for specialty care. We strive to schedule your care at a military treatment facility whenever possible. When capability or capacity is not available within the MTF, the referral will be directed to a TRICARE network provider.
Military Treatment Facility Referrals

If your care can be provided at a specialty clinic in the MTF, the 97th Medical Group will contact you within 3 business days to book your appointment.

Three attempts will be made to contact you by phone. If those attempts are unsuccessful, you will be notified via the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal, where you can receive an email notification of the message.

If you do not receive a call within three business days, please contact the 97th Medical Group at 580-481-5235, Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Network Referrals
If the specialty care is unavailable at an MTF, your referral will be processed by the Referral Management Office and sent to a TRICARE-authorized provider.

Patient Responsibility: You must login to the TriWest beneficiary portal to select from the listed provider options. If not selected within 30 days, the provider will be selected for you. View and print your authorization letter, which includes contact information for your approved provider. Network providers may not contact you. Authorization letters are no longer mailed to home addresses unless specifically requested.

For Patients with Other Health Insurance or Medicare

If you have OHI or Medicare (excluding Medicaid), TRICARE is the secondary payer only after a claim has been filed with your primary insurance.
